Continuing on from the solid foundations that have been firmly established since 1976, the JME team now consists of Dean Jenkinson, Jack Hickey, Michael McMeel, James Pike & Lachlan Holcombe who each bring unique skills and experience to the team, three of which are second-generation livestock agents.

Our aim at JME is to obtain optimum prices for clients whilst maintaining an excellence in consistent service. We can provide information to our clients on price, trends and indicators – all factors influencing the market. At JME we build long term relationships which allow us to provide personalised, clear and considered advice in all areas. We believe personal interaction is a crucial part of ensuring the client’s needs.

Agent profiles

Born and bred in the Hamilton district from a family farming background, Dean started in the livestock industry with Franklin Smith IAMA in the late 90’s before joining the J M Ellis & Coteam in June 2000.Whilst gaining valuable livestock experience from an expert team around him, Dean is always striving to obtain the best results for his clients. His knowledge of both sheep and cattle marketing and keeping up with modern trends has seen him have a close working relationship with various meat work companies and their buyers. Our clients value his hard work, dedication, stock knowledge and attention to detail. Dean is an Accredited AuctionsPlus Assessor.

Dean Jenkinson – Director & Livestock Agent

Jack commenced his career as a livestock agent in 2011 in Bendigo where his auctioneering expertise commenced. He then returned to the Western District in 2013 working with his father, a livestock agent with decades of experience. Jack joined the JME team in 2016 as an Auctioneer and has further developed his auctioneering skills. In 2017 Jack progressed to the National ALPA Young Auctioneers’ competition and was awarded runner up. Jack has extensive experience with sheep and cattle, has a fine eye for detail and is very committed to providing a professional service to his clients.

Jack Hickey – Director, Auctioneer & Livestock Agent

After completing his Bachelor of Business (Property),  James worked for Knight Frank as an Assistant Residential Valuer in SA which also comprised part of his final year study. In2015 he commenced with CBRE in their Agribusiness Department as an Assistant Valuer providing strategic property valuations and advice to a mix of agribusiness stakeholders including broadacre, piggeries, viticulture, timber plantations, horticulture and chicken farms. In August 2016, he moved back to Hamilton, to join JM Ellis & Co as a Livestock Agent. James brought with him expertise, a knowledge of corporate business and continues in his father’s footsteps as a Livestock and Real EstateAgent.

James Pike – Director, Livestock Agent, Licensed Real Estate Agent

After completing VCE in 2013 Mick ventured north to work on the famous Tipperary Station, NT, for 12 months. He gained a diverse amount of knowledge and skills from working on an outback cattle station. Mick returned to the local region to work as a Livestock Agent alongside his father in the livestock industry and family farm. Mick joined the JME team in 2017 and has provided his clients with continued ongoing support which reflects his strong work ethic and knowledge of the rural industry. Mick is an accredited AuctionsPlus Assessor and also holds a Real Estate Sub-agent licence.

Michael McMeel –  Director, Livestock Agent, Rural Sales Consultant

Jane was raised on a local sheep and cattle property at Dunkeld where along with her husband they grow prime lambs and superfine wool. With newspaper and law practice experience behind her, she joined the JME team in 2009 and enjoys the busy life of administration in a livestock and real estate agency.

Jane Hasell – Office Manager

Maggie was raised on a local sheep property south-west of Balmoral. She completed her VCE studies in Melbourne, where she then returned home and began working on properties around the region. Maggie has joined the JME team and will bring a knowledge of her previous work into the job.
